Climate Action Kids is a hands-on early childhood initiative that teaches our youngest learners how to protect their planet in simple and joyful ways. Each week, children explore nature, discover climate friendly habits, and learn how their actions can help people, animals, and our shared environment.
Sensory Learning Garden
Children plant, water, and harvest in our climate friendly garden where they learn how their actions support local ecosystems.
Recycling and Upcycling
Cardboard robots, cereal box houses, and creative reuse activities teach children how to reduce waste in fun and imaginative ways.
Litter Patrol
Kids help keep our campus clean by picking up litter and learning why clean spaces matter for people, animals, and the planet.
Urban Heat Island Adventures
Our newest project helps children understand urban heat and cool our city by planting trees and exploring shade solutions.
Urban Heat Island Adventures
San Antonio is one of the many cities affected by the Urban Heat Island effect, where buildings and paved areas trap more heat than natural landscapes. As part of our second year of funding from the City of San Antonio Office of Sustainability, our Climate Action Kids are helping make a real difference.
Through hands on activities, children learn how trees provide shade, cool neighborhoods, and improve the air around us. They explore why planting greenery matters and how even small efforts can help reduce heat in our city. This growing initiative gives young learners the chance to plant trees, care for them, and see firsthand how they can help create a cooler, healthier community.
This new project expands the Climate Action Kids program in a meaningful way and highlights our continued commitment to making environmental education accessible, joyful, and impactful for children.
