From the Child Development Center
Sr Leonita, Ms. Mae and Pre-K are celebrating with a Christmas Play for children and parents. Come, Lord Jesus is now in rehearsal! Christmas Pictures with Santa from Santa Express is an annual excitement.
Thanks to the Assistance League of San Antonio each child will go home with a packet including: a jacket, two winter outfits, six pairs of socks and matching underwear, two books, a grooming kit with shampoo, skin cream, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair brush and a book for parents: Developmental Milestones (in a child’s life). According to CDC Director, Carol Silva, “they’re awesome. In the summer we ask again and receive again”! Parents’ Academy families receive this wondrous gift, as well.
Ms. Stephanie’s Pre-K2 is having a donation drive to secure food products for the San Antonio Food Bank. Many families depend on the Food Bank for many of their eating needs. There are two or three Food Bank Pantry locations in every zip code where parents/guardians can pick up the food they use for their families.
In addition we are happy to report that Pre-K teachers Ms. Irene & Ms. Stephanie are attending Big Day at Pre-K to learn curriculum for Kinder Readiness. Ms. Mae is certified in this program giving our children a well-rounded opportunity for learning fun.

Cafeteria Ground Breaking
After a few obstacles which made it necessary to delay the date for accepting bids, we are still on target with our Ground Breaking Ceremony scheduled for December 15, 2011. We are grateful to all our donors and today acknowledge our latest one – The George Strake Foundation in Houston. We continue to seek funding for equipment and furniture.
Pepper Tree for Education
Sr. Stephanie Marie, with assistance from Alumnae and Sr. Patricia Marie, sent out our annual appeal for this scholarship fund for our Child Development Center. Our Advent waiting brings in a handful of return envelopes each day. We acknowledge our alumnae, alumni, friends and supporters with grateful Thanksgiving as they partner with us in caring for the children God sends to our doors. We pray that God sends Abundant Blessings and a joyous Christmas to our extended apostolic family.
We are pleased that our CDC Administration and Staff continue to develop and build their own skills AND that our enrollment is up some 4% since last month. Our meeting with the City of San Antonio Child Care Services expanded our own view of how to help our parents access this funding source more effectively.
