On March 27, Carol Silva, Director and staff members at the Child Development Center attended the 15th Annual Diversity Conference at the Barshop Jewish Community Center. The conference goal was to promote inclusiveness, acceptance and tolerance and to combat the “-isms” of society through the exploration of our own biases, and to carry back the insights gained from the conference into the classroom.
“We acknowledge adults can sometimes bring a certain bias that could affect the interaction with children attending our programs. This worthwhile conference reminds us that all children, no matter their culture, ethnic or religious backgrounds, are all God’s children, explained Silva. “And we are here to teach them, and be good role models to all of the children by demonstrating respect, love and empathy towards each other.”
